From The Desk Of...Chicago Bears Training Camp 2019Bears training camp: Recap from Aug. 2 practiceNew,56commentsDavid Montgomery goes Beast Mode, Elliott Fry has a good day Womens Akiem Hicks Jersey , and more from today’s practice.CDTAnother day of Bears training camp is in the books. The Aug. 2 practice was full of encouraging plays from rookies, lackluster performances from certain veterans, and the heating up of an already intense kicking battle. Though one should not jump to conclusions if a player is or isn’t playing well, it’s interesting to see how the team looks as the preseason draws near. Here are some of my takeaways from today’s practice in Bourbonnais.Trubisky has a down dayThis offseason has served as a time for many to criticize Mitchell Trubisky, whether they be Bears fans or not. Though training camp is not the time for one to change one’s mind about a certain player, the signal-caller did not do a great job of silencing those critics today.Trubisky made a handful of great passes from short and intermediate ranges. He was rarely allowed to throw on the run, but his passes outside of the pocket looked sharp. His decision making looked impressive, too, as he consistently made the right read on RPOs and regularly made smart throws. As has been the case throughout camp, though, his accuracy was shaky, particularly on the deep ball.He hit Allen Robinson with a dime in the back corner of the end zone on a go route, but not before he overthrew Javon Wims on the same throw. He also severely underthrew Marvin Hall on another go route, so much so that Hall had to cut backwards to try and catch the pass, which fell to the grass. Trubisky threw two interceptions on the day: one to Ha Ha Clinton-Dix on a poorly placed lob to the end zone, and one to Danny Trevathan after a pass breakup from Prince Amukamara.Time will tell if these struggles will be reoccurring issues with Trubisky this year, as they have in the past. Now is not the time to panic or overreact to reports of how well or poorly any player plays, let alone the quarterback. However Bobby Massie Jersey , it is still a bit disappointing that he has yet to iron out these wrinkles in his game. The first few weeks of the regular season should serve as an evaluation point for how Trubisky developed this offseason.Montgomery is legitDavid Montgomery was one of the best running backs in college football last year, and today’s practice showed why.The third-round pick looked every bit as good as he did on tape, and he showcased all of the traits that made him highly coveted coming out of Iowa State. He showcased impressive lateral agility, making quick and sharp cuts in positional drills. He looked like a natural as a pass catcher, making smooth hand catches in stride when running routes and showing off fluidity in space.Give Jacob Infante a listen on Lester’s latest T Formation Conversation podcast as they talk all about Friday’s training camp practice and how the team has looked so far. The biggest play that he made today—and arguably the biggest play anyone made—came in scrimmage. He bounced outside when an opening up the middle failed to emerge, and he trucked a defender and broke multiple tackles. When tacklers finally wrapped him up, he managed to carry a handful of defenders a few extra yards and pick up a first down. His abilities were made even more apparent in live tackling drills, as he was able to show off his vision, balance and lower-body strength. Montgomery will presumably see some time in the preseason, though the snap count he will receive figures to be relatively small. However, when he steps onto the field, he will be very exciting to watch.Kicking competition heats upThough one has to remember not to overreact to training camp reports, the Bears’ kicking competition could develop into more of a good problem than a bad problem if the past few practices are any indication.Eddy Pineiro has been fantastic in camp thus far, but today was Elliott Fry’s turn to show his stuff. The former AAF kicker nailed a 54-yard field goal during warmups before going 9-for-10 on the day. His lone miss came from about 47 yards out, but he redeemed himself with makes from 52 and 57 yards out, as well as two made kicks from 62 yards.Even though the competition started off with nearly every kicker putting forth a disappointing outing in the infamous kicker gauntlet a few months ago, both Fry and Pineiro have been fantastic in camp thus far. The preseason will serve as a chance for either one of them to truly pull ahead, but there doesn’t seem to be a clear-cut frontrunner yet.Good day for youngsters In addition to Montgomery http://www.thebearslockerroom.com/authentic-jordan-howard-jersey , there were multiple other young Bears who flashed during camp today.Joel Iyiegbuniwe showed up to camp looking incredibly jacked, and his strength was apparent in drills today. One particular play came in a blitzing drill, when he knocked Montgomery down to the ground with a nasty swim move and a powerful swipe. He held his own in coverage drills, as well, showing off some of the athleticism that got him drafted in the fourth round last year. This preseason could be his chance to prove himself as a worthy replacement for Danny Trevathan if the veteran becomes too expensive for the Bears to re-sign.Chicago brought in a bevy of undrafted tight ends this offseason, and two of them in particular had some flashes today. Dax Raymond, one of the team’s most hyped undrafted rookies, made a handful of impressive grabs in drills, including a leaping touchdown catch in red zone drills. Ian Bunting, a less-heralded prospect, also had a couple of solid catches. One in particular saw him run through multiple defenders for a long gain after a short pass from Chase Daniel.Multiple other young players took some strides today. Duke Shelley had a quiet outing, but he took a handful of second-team reps as both an outside and a slot cornerback. Kevin Toliver also saw snaps with the second team, and he had an impressive pass breakup in one-on-one drills. Tanner Gentry also put together a decent day, highlighted by his creating separation on a slant to pick up a first down against Prince Amukamara in scrimmage. The Bears kick off their preseason in just under a week, and anticipation is already growing for the return of Bears football, regardless of which players are on the field. Today’s practice served as an encouraging preview of how these next few weeks could shape up.

Sunday’s win over the Ravens sets

the Chargers up for a trip to New England to face the Patriots next weekend and it’s not the first time that quarterback Philip Rivers has found himself in that spot. The Chargers faced the Patriots in the AFC title game after the 2007 season and lost 21-12 with Rivers playing through a torn ACL. It’s been a long time since that game Brandon Mebane Jersey , but Rivers and Tom Brady remain in the same spots that they were back then and Rivers said he’s excited about the chance to take on the Patriots once again.“Again, I’ve got to focus on that defense,” Rivers said, via the team’s website. “Now I’m not playing Tom by any means, but is it special to go to New England to go against a Hall of Fame coach and arguably the best quarterback ever to play? [Am I excited to] get another shot at them? Heck yeah. Heck yeah it is special. Just like I always told you http://www.thechargerslockerroom.com/authentic-michael-schofield-jersey , we look over and it’s Peyton Manning on the other side. I’m not playing those guys, but I have a great deal of respect. [I’m a] fan of those guys. So to get an opportunity again to go against them 11 years after we had that opportunity in the 2007 season, yeah, it’s awesome. I’m looking forward to it.”Rivers said the team needs “to play better offensively” than they did in the 23-17 win over the Ravens and getting a repeat performance from the defense would be a big help to getting the result that escaped Rivers over a decade ago. There’s been some handwringing this offseason about Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes playing basketball, with the front office urging him to stop because they’re worried about injuries. Another AFC West team seems to feel differently.Chargers defensive backs Derwin James and Casey Hayward are playing basketball together this offseason Womens Corey Liuget Jersey , and the Chargers like what they see so much that they posted a highlight. It’s a pretty impressive highlight: Hayward lobs the ball off the backboard, and James goes way up to dunk, while the hapless guy they’re playing against, who looks like just an ordinary dude at a rec center, can do nothing about it.Perhaps the Chargers’ front office is going to urge the social media team not to post those highlights so as not to encourage James to keep playing Dan Feeney Jersey , but more likely the Chargers are fine with some offseason basketball. And James certainly looks like he can play.

Philadelphia Eagles news and links for 4/7/19

."Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...25 years after buying Eagles http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-corey-clement-jersey , it’s clear Jeff Lurie’s a Philly guy - NBCSPIt took 23 years, but in 2017 Lurie finally realized his dream and got to raise the Lombardi Trophy after the Eagles beat the Patriots in Super Bowl LII in Minneapolis. Lurie has devoted the latter half of his life to the Eagles. You can make the case that no single person has meant as much to the franchise. He’s put down roots here and committed himself to what’s best for the franchise, when it comes to hiring in the front office, signing top free agents, building state-of-the-art facilities. He’s overseen the franchise during unprecedented growth. The franchise he bought for $195 million is now worth an estimated $2.8 billion. The Eagles are among the NFL’s most successful franchises any way you measure it. The biggest criticism of Lurie when he arrived here 25 years ago today was that he was an outsider. Turns out he’s just as Philly as the rest of us.“Mediocre” is not bad - BGNFrom a talent perspective, no, the Eagles aren’t “set.” But from a roster perspective, where is a high draft pick going to play? Darby and Mills are the starters. Maddox is going to get his playing time, though it may be at safety. Jones and Douglas aren’t going anywhere this year. LeBlanc might have been a flash in the pan last year, but even if he is I just listed five guys ahead of him on the depth chart. If at some point on Day 3 of the draft there is a corner available that is head and shoulders ahead of the rest of their board, sure, grab him, especially if it’s a guy who can play safety. As we saw last year Womens DeSean Jackson Jersey , you can never have enough depth. But this team has bigger draft needs. That’s what people mean when they say they’re “set.”An early look at the Eagles’ 2020 free agents - PhillyVoiceJalen Mills (UFA): Mills is an interesting player to watch, in terms of how the team views him going forward. Jim Schwartz values him more than anyone. Is his future at corner or safety? What is his realistic market, and what does Mills think his market will be? Those could be two very different things. Here’s why I think Eagles shouldn’t (and won’t) pick a cornerback in the 1st round - NJ.comLet. Them. Grow. The Eagles have now drafted four cornerbacks in the last three drafts: Mills, Jones, Douglas and Maddox. They are all young, have flashed talent and deserve the chance to develop and, for at least the latter three, become the players they were drafted to be. Jones in particular deserves a little more leeway — his “rookie season” was a wash due to a predraft injury. He didn’t stay healthy as a sophomore, but that was his real rookie season. Give the kid a chance.Q&A with Joe Banner: Reviewing the Eagles’ offseason moves - The AthleticI’m very intrigued by the Malik Jackson signing. I’ve said this before in discussions and it was part of the philosophy when I was there, clearly something Howie (Roseman) is carrying forward — good players coming off a bad year are the best values in free agency. Just like bad players coming off a good year are the biggest mistakes in free agency. Example, I think right or wrong, clearly, Kansas City does not think Dee Ford is a great defensive end. I think they think he’s probably a pretty good player coming off a great year and got money as if he was a great player. So Cameron Johnston Jersey , those are the biggest mistakes when you watch free agency. Malik Jackson has been a very good player and he had a very bad year. So, I’m intrigued by that. It fits the formula of guys who come through free agency, (get paid) decent money but don’t blow away your cap, and actually, come out and have a big impact. Now, he could come out and play like he did last year. But to me, this is a very well-calculated risk with a chance to have a lot of upside. So, I thought that was a very good move.Meet the Prospect: RB Devin Singletary - PE.comDevin Singletary was very productive during his college career, but will it carry over to the NFL? Fran Duffy takes a look in Meet the Prospect.‘This can’t be real’: How Browns pulled off Odell Beckham Jr. trade - ESPNWhile Cleveland exulted, New York came to a grudging acceptance that one of the NFL’s best players would be leaving and the Giants had the appearance of a train without a conductor. A dream in the mind of Browns general manager John Dorsey, the Beckham trade came together the night before NFL free agency began -- after more than a year of whispers. The Giants jettisoned their talented receiver -- with the “reluctant approval” of owner John Mara. This was a trade that happened quickly, but was laid out in advance. It was a trade that one team initially wasn’t eager to make, but the other pushed to complete. Depending on the point of view http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-paul-worrilow-jersey , it came about through planning and patience, diligence and duty. It involved a long-time friendship, a furious day of discussions, the Giants’ unwillingness to make last-minute phone calls about Beckham, and the San Francisco 49ers, who left the entire process disappointed.Ask a former NFL player: How would you change the offseason schedule? - SB NationTraining camp is vastly different, too: No more two-a-days, mandatory days off, and shorter time spent in camp. This schedule is awesome for veterans. It keeps them fresh. I’m never going to advocate for anything different. However, the game play would clearly improve if players hit more in camp. I’m not sure two-a-days are needed, but I think coaches should use their training camp time to hit more often. We’ve seen the teams that hit in camp succeed in the playoffs, like the Chiefs, Patriots Womens Richard Rodgers Jersey , and Eagles. Secondly, it’s ridiculous that coaches aren’t allowed to talk or coach ball during the months between the end of the season and the first day of the offseason program. If players want to be in the facility, they should be allowed to meet with the coaches and get on the field with them. This would be so helpful for younger players who need the extra practice time and/or reps....Social Media Information:BGN Facebook Page: Click here to like our pageBGN Twitter: Follow @BleedingGreenBGN Manager: Brandon Lee Gowton: Follow @BrandonGowtonBGN Radio Twitter: Follow @BGN_Radio Wide receiver Charles Johnson is getting another chance in the NFL.Johnson parleyed 45 catches for 687 yards and five touchdowns for the AAF’s Orlando Apollos into a contract with the Eagles this week. He produced 60 catches for 834 yards and two touchdowns in 39 games for the Vikings from 2014 to 2016 and said this week that he thinks he can make a strong showing in his return to the league.“It was good to be able to go out there and play for the love of the game, play because I love the game, play because I’m passionate about it,” Johnson said, via the team’s website. “When I’m healthy, I know what I can do. I know I have a lot of football left in my body. I still feel really young. I don’t feel like there’s a lot of people who can compete at the level that I compete at. When healthy, when given the right opportunities for a team that believes in you, I can succeed at a high level.”Johnson will likely need to get off to a strong start with his new team if he’s going to get an extended opportunity to prove himself right. Alshon Jeffery, DeSean Jackson and Nelson Agholor are at the top of the depth chart with holdovers Mack Hollins and Shelton Gibson also competing for time in a group that could grow in the draft.

The Jaguars have signed former New York Giants offensive tackle Ereck Flowers

JACKSONVILLE http://www.thejaguarslockerroom.com/authentic-niles-paul-jersey , Fla. (AP) — The Jaguars have signed former New York Giants offensive tackle Ereck Flowers and placed left tackle Josh Wells on injured reserve with a groin injury.Flowers was waived by the Giants on Tuesday after he failed to live up to lofty expectations. He was the ninth overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft. Flowers was moved from left to right tackle this season after the Giants signed Nate Solder, but lost that job to Chad Wheeler after just two games. The move Friday reunites Flowers with Tom Coughlin, the Jaguars’ executive vice president of football operations who was the Giants’ coach when he was drafted. Jacksonville offensive line coach Pat Flaherty served in the same role in New York during Flowers’ rookie season. The Jaguars are down both Wells and Cam Robinson at left tackle, and will start Josh Walker at Dallas. Flowers could take over as early as next week against Houston. From The Front Desk: Roasts, wrecks, obituaries Corey Grant Jersey , and more from Week 1 Welcome to the first installment of From The Front Desk! Wiltfong Jr. of Serena V PhotographyWe all know about the drama surrounding the kicker situation for the Chicago Bears Marcus Cooper Jersey , but the other specialist positions are sure things, so this will be a quick article. Roster LocksThe Bears only have one punter in camp, so unless there’s an injury, they’ll head into the 2019 season with Patrick O’Donnell manning that position. The last time we saw him doing his thing, he shanked a 36 yarder in the wildcard game, but before that bad ball, he placed 4 of his previous 5 punts inside the 20 yard line. O’Donnell was known for his booming leg in college, but since coming to the Bears http://www.thebearslockerroom.com/authentic-kyle-fuller-jersey , he’s become more of a directional/hang time punter to help out his coverage units. O’Donnell’s punts only allowed 150 punt return yards a year ago which was 7th best in the league. Long snapper Patrick Scales is starting his fourth year in Chicago and the coaching staff has been happy with him thus far. Unless he develops a case of the yips, he’ll be back in 2019.A good bet to make it(Crickets chirping)On the bubbleThe Bears do have another long snapper in camp, but rookie UDFA John Wirtel, who hails from Orland Park, Illinois and Mount Carmel High School, is likely just a camp arm.And that takes us to the kickers...I have zero faith in either Elliott Fry or Eddy Pineiro winning the job in glorious fashion. Fry seems to be more accurate, but he has a weak leg (*or does he?), whereas Pineiro is the opposite with a big boot Womens Bryce Callahan Jersey , but accuracy issues. At this point in the game it could just click for either one, but the Bears are openly talking about having their options open for a reason. Of the two, I’d take the guy that is more accurate, but I really hope Pineiro can put it together because he has the most upside. But honestly, I think there’s a better chance that the 2019 kicker for the Bears is kicking somewhere other than Bourbonnais right now. * EDIT: At today’s practice Fry hit a field goal from about 58-60 yards, and in one session he nailed seven in a row. Head coach Matt Nagy also said that each kicker will alternate days so they can get in a good rhythm. He was happy with Fry today and tomorrow he’ll get to see Pineiro.

For the second time this year

http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-malcolm-jenkins-jersey , a former NFL player is leaving ESPN to return to the NFL.Adam Schefter of ESPN reports (announces) that Josh McCown of ESPN is now Josh McCown of the Eagles. McCown joins Cowboys tight end Jason Witten as football players turned ESPN analysts turned football players.McCown, who plans to resume his broadcasting career after the season, joins a depth chart that has been reduced through two preseason games from four healthy players to two: Carson Wentz and <del>Thurston Howell III</del> Clayton Thorson. The Eagles had planned to add no quarterbacks after losing primary backup Nate Sudfeld to a broken wrist. With Cody Kessler now in the concussion protocol, the Eagles needed someone else.Schefter’s announcement creates the impression that McCown will be with the Eagles all year long. There’s a chance, however Womens Jalen Mills Jersey , he won’t make the 53-man roster — especially if his one-year deal isn’t guaranteed at signing. Indeed, eight years ago to the day, he signed with the 49ers; two weeks later, he was released.McCown entered the NFL in 2002 with the Cardinals. He has played for Arizona, Detroit Brandon Graham Jersey , Oakland, Carolina, the Hartford Colonials, San Francisco (briefly), Chicago http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-dallas-goedert-jersey , Tampa Bay, Cleveland, the New York Jets, and now Philadelphia. That’s more than 25 percent of the entire NFL, and exactly one fourth of the long-defunct UFL.Meanwhile Womens Rodney McLeod Jersey , Colin Kaepernick’s phone still isn’t ringing, 10 years to the month after the Eagles gave a second chance to a convicted felon who spent nearly two years in prison for running a dogfighting operation. Alshon Jeffery doesn’t always jump to mind as a guy you think of as a “great quote.” The veteran wide receiver typically speaks in a quiet, mumbly voice and often keeps his answers short. But sometimes Jeffery has some really strong quotes. Whether that’s correctly guaranteeing a Super Bowl win (twice!) or the “Ain’t nobody f***ing with us” line he’s dropped before ... he’s not afraid to be bold. That was the case once again on Wednesday as Jeffery was predictably swarmed by media to ask him about going up against his former team. Jeffery’s answer was fantastic:That’s the perfect answer that will have Eagles fans eating out of his hands. But it didn’t stop there:What a boss thing to say. One thing Jeffery doesn’t love about Sunday’s away game is the playing surface at Soldier Field. Via NJ.com:Jeffery’s not wrong. When I think of Soldier Field, I can’t help but think of when the Eagles played the Bears in Chicago back in 2010 and guys were slipping all over the place. I remember feeling how the speed and shiftiness of Michael Vick/DeSean Jackson/LeSean McCoy were neutralized by those poor grounds. But I digress.Jeffery is downplaying the angle of his first game back in Chicago since signing with Philly but I’m sure he wouldn’t mind having a big game in an Eagles win. You know, make those loud fans real quiet when the fourth quarter ends.I’d say he’s ready for Sunday.

Khalil Mack has made it onto the NFL Top 100

list for the fifth year in a row." Latest NewsNewsBears LB Khalil Mack ranked No. 3 on NFL Top 100 listNew Josh Bellamy Jersey ,22commentsKhalil Mack has made it onto the NFL Top 100 list for the fifth year in a row.CDTFor the fifth straight year, Khalil Mack has been named to the NFL Top 100 list.Having made an appearance every year since 2015 as a member of the Raiders, the All-Pro edge rusher was placed at No. 3 after his first year with the Bears. He missed two games due to injury and played hurt in one of them, but he still tallied 12.5 sacks—the second-highest total of his career—47 tackles, 18 quarterback hits, and 10 tackles for a loss. From the moment the Bears acquired Mack, it was apparent that the team’s defense would be taken to another level. Though the unit was one of the stronger defensive groups in the league before the trade, he gave them the one factor they lacked: a top-end edge rusher. After his acquisition, Chicago’s defense was ranked the No. 1 DVOA unit in the league. They also placed No. 1 in takeaways, points per game allowed, and third in sacks and total yards allowed.Mack’s impact goes well beyond the stat sheet, though. As one of the most prolific defensive players in the league, his presence alone opens up opportunities for his teammates. The recipient of numerous double- and triple-team blocks, his being on the field allows the likes of Akiem Hicks and Leonard Floyd to take on one-on-one blocks. His dominance as a pass rusher also forces opposing quarterbacks to panic and make lackluster throws in a collapsing pocket: a major catalyst in the All-Pro seasons of Eddie Jackson and Kyle Fuller.Mack’s appearance marks the highest ranking ever by a Bears player, as well as the first player the team has had ranked in the top five. He is also the first player to reach the top 10 since Julius Peppers in 2011, who was tenth in the first edition of the NFL Top 100 list. This ranking is also a personal best for Mack, whose previous best finish was fifth in 2017. He joins the likes of Hicks, Jackson http://www.thebearslockerroom.com/authentic-anthony-miller-jersey , and Fuller on the list, the most selections Chicago has had since they had five in 2013—the team also had five in 2014, but one of them was Jared Allen, who made the list for his season with the Vikings. The Bears only had one player make the list in the prior four editions of the Top 100: Matt Forte in 2015. The 2017 NFL Draft was loaded with talent and we still have not seen the best of a seemingly deep class. On both sides of the ball, you can expect to see an improvement in some immensely talented second-year pros. Some names on this list might be familiar while others are on the cusp of moving the curtains aside and taking center stage. It’s quite simple, some players slump while others jump. Let’s see who is set to catapult themselves on the NFL’s trampoline.Mitchell TrubiskyTrubisky has a lot of the similar characteristics that Carson Wentz possesses. He has the strong arm to push the ball down the field. He has exceptional accuracy despite only completing 59.4 percent of his throws and throwing seven interceptions. Also, the North Carolina product can make plays with his feet. Obviously, Trubisky’s decision making needs to improve, but his best receiving threat from 2017 might have been Tarik Cohen who plays running back. With new receiving threats in Allen Robinson, Taylor Gabriel, and Trey Burton, the Chicago Bears brain trust are hoping their new franchise cornerstone can make the same jump Wentz made, last season, in <em>his</em> second year.Marlon MackThe former South Florida Bull had a so-so rookie campaign as he would spell Frank Gore here-and-there. Mack finished the season with 358 yards on 93 carries and four total touchdowns. He averaged about six carries a game which translated to 3.8 yards per attempt. That is not bad considering the Indianapolis Colts’ front lacked a killer instinct in the trenches. During the 2018 NFL Draft, they selected the best guard in the draft in Quenton Nelson to bolster their front. With Gore gone, Mack is subject to tote the rock 250 times next season and he is a threat in the passing game too given his 225 receiving yards last year. Having Andrew Luck under center should make his job easier too.Cooper Kupp“Smart” and “instinctual” are two words Jared Goff once used to describe Kupp. You could see why Goff had such choice words for his well-rounded receiver as it showed in Kupp’s ability to create separation and get open. The 6’2 receiver demonstrated versatility, despite his size, in his ability to play out wide and as a slot receiver. As a result Womens Sherrick McManis Jersey , he finished with 62 catches, 869 yards, 14 yards per reception, and five touchdowns in his rookie campaign. Now, you might be wondering why he is on this list considering his productive inaugural season. Well, Sammy Watkins was not retained as the Los Angeles Rams are putting their eggs in Kupp’s basket. Expect him to <em>cook</em> as 100 catches with 1,000 yards is realistic for the young Rams’ receiver.Patrick Mahomes II“I don’t want to hype him, but I compare him to Brett Favre,” exclaimed Tamba Hali on “Good Morning Football” of the NFL Network. Hali said this after practicing against Mahomes for a year in which the young Kansas City Chiefs quarterback made a habit of making the defense look bad. Most notably, he made All-Pro defensive backs Marcus Peters and Eric Berry look half-witted. Andy Reid even seems to be reminded of Favre when he watches Mahomes because of his propensity to complete passes in tight windows. Maybe that is why Alex Smith was dealt in a trade to Washington.Mahomes’ gunslinger mentality is sure to put the Chiefs in a few bad spots especially with teams loading the box to stop Kareem Hunt. However, the former Red Raider has the weapons in Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill, Sammy Watkins, Spencer Ware, and Hunt to be the antidote to whatever plan defensive coordinators decide to orchestrate.Julie’n DavenportDavenport has by far the best name on this list. Aside from the great name, he is in an even better situation to be the anchor at left tackle for the Houston Texans. He came in last season as a fourth round pick out of Bucknell, that is by no means a football powerhouse. Davenport probably did not expect to see much time on the field with All-Pro Duane Brown manning the fort. However, he played in 11 games as a rookie and there was a lot to like as well as some things that needed to be cleaned up.Davenport’s size Charles Leno Jersey , 6’7”, is what he can hang his hat on as his arm length is long enough to keep pass rushers at bay. In addition, he should benefit from being thrown in the fire a year ago. However, he has to get out of his stance like he is late for work especially with protecting Deshaun Watson’s blindside. The Texans rolled the dice in letting Brown walk and they are hoping Davenport is a lucky seven or eleven. Craps anyone?Ahkello WitherspoonA corner that is long, wiry, and rangy for the San Francisco 49ers. No, not Richard Sherman. The new Niner must see a lot of himself in Witherspoon because he invited his new teammate to a camp featuring some of the NFL’s elite corners in Darius Slay, Xavier Rhodes, and Aqib Talib. Might we see Witherspoon become the next shutdown corner in a division that houses Sherman, Talib, Marcus Peters, and Patrick Peterson? In two of his last four games, Witherspoon finished the season on a high note with two interceptions and should be able to add more to his resume with an All-Pro corner, Sherman, playing opposite of him. Good luck dealing with these two skyscrapers at corner NFC West quarterbacks.Gareon ConleyGuard your shins as soccer is not the only place where shin injuries can occur evidently. Although rare in the NFL, Conley was dealing with a shin injury last year as a rookie. To make matters worse, he was dealing with an unclear conscience as he was facing some serious sexual allegations, recently dropped http://www.thebearslockerroom.com/authentic-joel-iyiegbuniwe-jersey , after already having the charges modulate his draft stock. The Oakland Raiders 2017 first round pick was expected to go top 10, or at worst top 15, in last year’s draft. Heck, some considered Conley to be the <em>better </em>prospect compared to his college teammate in Marshon Lattimore. Nevertheless, he slipped to the 24th pick. Now, for the first time in a year, the former Buckeye can focus on just playing football. The Raiders view him as a player with oodles of talent as they hope it will transfer to him being an elite player. Jon Gruden and Paul Guenther are impressed as their young corner is learning the defense and developing good technique as they told reporters recently. There is not much roster talent at corner to inhibit Conley from being the top dog in Oakland.Matt MilanoSLEEPER ALERT. Another player on this list with double M as the initials to his name. As a result, I will use verbs starting with M to describe him.Milano was <em>misinterpreted</em> coming out of Boston College, at linebacker, as he finished his career with 14 sacks and 32.5 tackles for a loss. He was <em>mishandled</em> in the draft as he slipped to the fifth round before the Buffalo Bills snagged him. The Golden Eagle product <em>moved</em> his way up the depth chart as he started five games during his 16-game rookie season. Milano <em>mirrors</em> an undersized Luke Kuechly, standing at an even six-feet, as he can cover and defend the run showing fluid instincts in both departments. The addition of Tremaine Edmunds should make Milano’s job easier as Sean McDermott has to be hoping his two young backers can grow to be quite the duo like the one he coached in Carolina. Edmunds has the freakish athletic ability of Thomas Davis while Milano has the makeup of Kuechly. Each of these youngsters teams will be looking for a return on their investment. These second-year players, well some, are not in any jeopardy of having the plug pulled on their NFL life, but they ought to improve in a hurry.

LONDON (AP) — The Los Angeles Chargers believe running back

Melvin Gordon will be able to return after the bye week from a hamstring injury that kept him out of their game against the Tennessee Titans.Even without Gordon Virgil Green Jersey , the Chargers edged the Titans 20-19 at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.Gordon, who entered the weekend third in the league with 466 rushing yards, was added to the injury report on Saturday. He was held out of practice a day earlier after the Chargers crossed the Atlantic for what coach Anthony Lynn said was a precautionary measure. The running back warmed up before the game, but Lynn decided that he wasn’t ready for a full workload against Tennessee and hopes to have him back when Los Angeles travels to face the Seattle Seahawks on Nov. 4.“Obviously, we’re better with Melvin Gordon, but I just felt like I had to protect him today because I don’t want this to be a lingering thing,” Lynn said. “I want to get him back for Seattle and he’s got a bye week off. He’ll be rehabbing and getting healthy, and hopefully http://www.thechargerslockerroom.com/authentic-mike-pouncey-jersey , we’ll have a full-speed Melvin back in a couple weeks.”The Chargers handed a first career start to second-year running back Austin Ekeler, who finished with 42 yards on 12 carries and also caught five passes for 26 yards.Gordon ran for 132 yards and three touchdowns in the road win against the Cleveland Browns on Oct. 14 and had surpassed 100 rushing yards in two of his last three games.Behind Gordon, Los Angeles had the league’s fifth-ranked rushing offense at 137.3 yards per game but was held to just 47 yards on the ground by Tennessee’s 26th-ranked run defense.“Frustrated,” Gordon said after the win. “I’ll be back next game.”Here’s what else we learned in the Chargers’ victory:PLAYING TO WINTitans coach Mike Vrabel said he will continue to coach aggressively after the go-ahead 2-point conversion failed with 31 seconds remaining.Vrabel has made several aggressive play calls since being hired as the Titans’ coach before this season and acknowledged that the decision to go for it was inspired in part by the team’s two-game losing streak.“I’m just trying to do what’s best for the team,” Vrabel said. “I’m trying to find a way to win a football game and haven’t done a very good job the last three weeks.”The Titans only allowed quarterback Marcus Mariota to be sacked twice after he was dropped 11 times in the 21-0 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the previous game, and Derrick Henry scored Tennessee’s first touchdown since the closing minutes of the road loss to the Buffalo Bills on Oct. 7.“Getting in the end zone was a huge step forward for us, but obviously, it’s all for nothing if you don’t win the game Womens Isaac Rochell Jersey ,” left tackle Taylor Lewan said.EYES ON THE PRIZEQuarterback Philip Rivers said that the victory, which moved the Chargers to 5-2 this season, will galvanize the team as it prepares to chase down the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West. The Chargers have reached the playoffs just once in the last eight seasons and narrowly missed out last year after finishing 9-7.“Everybody enjoys winning, but (this team enjoys) winning together,” Rivers said. “It’s as excited as I’ve seen a locker room postgame in a while — just the energy. It’s hard to win in this league.”SHARPER IMAGETitans wide receiver Tajae Sharpe could return from the bye week with a greater role in the offense after catching seven passes for a career-high 101 yards, including five for 75 yards on third down, on Sunday.“The more you perform and you make players, the more opportunities come your way Michael Badgley Jersey ,” Vrabel said. “Being able to convert third downs in this league is critical, and so Tajae has been a great asset for us to convert those.”Sharpe, in his third year out of UMass, missed all of last season with a foot injury. He had not caught seven passes in a game since his debut on Sept. 11, 2016, when he had 76 yards in a 25-16 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. The cast of characters is obviously different in Chargers camp. But the guys getting their chances in the absence of holdout running back Melvin Gordon know their approach has to be the same. While Gordon’s still in search of the kind of payday the Chargers don’t seem inclined to give him, Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson are getting used to carrying a heavier load.“I mean, even if he was here Joey Bosa Jersey , we have the same mentality,” Ekeler said of Gordon, via the . “If he’s here, we still have to move forward. If he’s not here, we still have to move forward.”Ekeler ran five times for 40 yards in the preseason opener, but lost a fumble. Jackson ran five times for 22 yards and a touchdown. Those numbers aren’t bad (other than the fumble, fumbles are bad), but they’re obviously not the same without Gordon. At the moment Womens Austin Ekeler Jersey , no one knows whether or when Gordon might show up, so they have to say all the right things.“I don’t know that scenario. Like I said, we miss Melvin,” offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt said. “I think Melvin’s a hell of a football player, but we’re working with the guys that are here and they’re doing a nice job.”And unless the performances get markedly worse, Gordon doesn’t seem to be gaining any more leverage.

Eagles quarterback Nate Sudfeld is expected

to miss six weeks after surgery to repair a broken wrist. When he returns http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-paul-worrilow-jersey , Sudfeld likely will be the No. 2 quarterback, behind Carson Wentz.“I think so,” coach Doug Pederson told reporters regarding whether he’s comfortable installing Sudfeld as the primary backup once he’s healthy. “I mean, obviously we can go back and kind of look at what he did last year a little bit in some of the games. Obviously, the pre-season game [on Thursday night].“Would you like more time? Yeah, you’d like to get another game or two to see him in a little more action. But what he’s proven to us in practice the last couple of years, what he’s done out here, what he did in the game the other night Womens Richard Rodgers Jersey , again he was smart with the football, made great decisions, threw the ball with accuracy. Those are all things you look for in the backup. . . . He did a nice job in kind of solidifying that spot.”That spot is an important one for the Eagles, given Wentz’s injury history. In each of the last two seasons, the Eagles had to turn to Nick Foles in December and January. Foles, who led the team to its first-ever Super Bowl win two seasons ago, is now gone.Pederson also said he doesn’t currently plan to add to a quarterback depth chart that includes veteran Cody Kessler and rookie Clayton Thorson. But Pederson didn’t close the door on the possibility of adding another arm while Sudfeld recovers.Looking ahead to Week One, the Eagles likely will be required at a minimum to carry three quarterbacks on the open roster Jordan Matthews Jersey , unless Sudfeld heals unexpectedly quickly. They could decide to keep four, if they think Thorson isn’t ready to play and if they don’t want to risk another team snatching the fifth-round pick from Northwestern on waivers. What does the outside world think of their haul?To get an different opinion, I reached out to Pro Football Focus’ lead draft analyst Mike Renner to get his thoughts. Focusing on the top selections, it’s no secret that Renner was a big supporter of the moves made.Typically in favor of trading back to accumulate draft capital and more swings at the plate, Renner loved the Eagles process in moving up to acquire Washington State offensive tackle Andre Dillard. He labeled this as one of the best picks of the first round. On the BGN Draft Special #5, Renner doubled down on praising the Eagles’ foresight in getting their tackle of the future.Moving on to the 53rd overall selection, Penn State running back Miles Sanders http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-avonte-maddox-jersey , Renner noted areas of improvement but overall feels good about his ability to be productive. That’s accentuated by the fact that the Eagles’ offensive line should create plenty of opportunities for him. Sanders’ big play ability paired with a top run blocking line were reasons cited as Sanders being a top contender for Offensive Rookie of the Year.Renner has been particularly excited about the Eagles’ 57th overall selection, Stanford wide receiver JJ Arcega-Whiteside. Several aspects of his game highlighted in my film review of Arcega-Whiteside were echoed by Renner. He thought highly enough of Arcega-Whiteside to consider him worthy of being selected in the first round and to highlight him as a steal in the draft. He also considered him one of the best fits in the draft, which has been a topic of some debate. You can hear even more discussion on these prospects by listening to the BGN Draft Special #5 on the media player below, or by clicking here if the player doesn’t load. With free agency and now the NFL Draft finished

Check.T..."With free agency and now the NFL Draft finished, the Jacksonville Jaguars have upgraded quite a few positions on their roster.Quarterback? Check.Offensive line? Check.Defensive line? Check.Tight end? Well...ESPN and Football Outsiders recently talked about the biggest roster holes on all 32 NFL teams and (surprise! surprise!) the Jaguars are still without a playmaking tight end on offense.I’d have to agree. Josh Oliver, Geoff Swaim, and whoever else is there aren’t the answer. In fact Womens Leonard Fournette Jersey , I’d argue that besides offensive line and quarterback, the Jaguars are woefully below average right now. There are some good players there — Dede Westbrook is in line for a big season — but the offense as a whole still needs a lot of work. What do you think? Is there a bigger hole on the Jaguars’ roster than tight end? Let us know in the comments below! The Jacksonville Jaguars have notified Leonard Fournette they are voiding the remaining guarantees in the former fourth overall pick’s contract, according to a report by the Associated Press.Earlier in the day Jaguars VP of Football Operations Tom Coughlin released a scathing statement about Fournette and running back T.J. Yeldon for sitting on the bench while the Jaguars were on offense and looking completely disinterested in the game. The AP report also states that the Jaguars made this decision and notified Fournette a few weeks ago, likely shortly after his one-game suspension for fighting against the Buffalo Bills. The Jaguars running back has had a disappointing start to his career Barry Church Jersey , averging under 4.0 yards per carry his rookie year, though he did have a nose for the endzone. For the 2018 season however, Fournette played in less than 30 percent of the Jaguars offensive snaps, mostly due to missing eight games due to a suspension and injuries. There has been growing belief as the season has gone on that the Jaguars have grown tired of Fournette’s attitude and work ethic http://www.thejaguarslockerroom.com/authentic-ereck-flowers-jersey , and this would just seem to further that idea.It now seems very possible that the Jaguars could be parting ways with Fournette this offseason, not having any dead money on the cap if they decided to outright release him, though voiding the guarantees could actually make him more of an attractive trade option, especially if the Jaguars are looking to trade up in the 2019 NFL Draft in search of a new quarterback.Fournette can appeal this decision if he chooses.

COSTA MESA

http://www.thechargerslockerroom.com/authentic-mike-pouncey-jersey , Calif. (AP)Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers would welcome the return of tight end Antonio Gates following the serious knee injury sustained by Hunter Henry last week.Rivers endorsed the idea of re-signing Gates, who is a free agent after playing all 15 seasons of his record-setting career for the Chargers, but said the decision would be up to general manager Tom Telesco and head coach Anthony Lynn.”I would always be excited if he walked back in the door, obviously. Certainly, he would get my vote,” Rivers said Tuesday.Gates would be a logical fit to help replace Henry, who is expected to miss the upcoming season because of a torn ACL he sustained in practice. Henry had emerged as a top target for Rivers over his first two seasons with 81 receptions for 1,057 yards and 12 touchdowns, contributing to the team’s decision not to bring back Gates.Gates caught 87 of his 114 touchdown receptions from Rivers, the second-most by a quarterback-receiver combination in NFL history behind the 112 touchdown passes Peyton Manning threw to Marvin Harrison for Indianapolis. Gates has the most touchdown receptions by a tight end in NFL history to go along with his franchise-record 927 receptions and 11,508 yards receiving. The absence of Henry leaves Virgil Green as the only tight end currently on the roster that has caught a pass in an NFL game. Behind Green, who signed with the Chargers as a free agent from Denver in April Womens Isaac Rochell Jersey , are second-year players Sean Culkin and Braedon Bowman and rookies Cole Hunt and Ben Johnson.”It will look different without Hunter in there, but thankfully we have another 10 practices or so, counting the mini-camp, to continue to shape the offense for who we’re going to be,” Rivers said.Rivers had been in contact with Gates since Henry tore his ACL, declining to discuss the specifics of their conversations.”If something were to happen down the road, he wouldn’t have wanted it to come that way with Hunter’s absence,” Rivers said.— BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Browns defensive end Myles Garrett roughed up NFL officials. The No. 1 overall pick unloaded on officials on Friday, criticizing them for several calls that have gone against Cleveland in recent weeks and swung momentum in their games.“Do your job just like we need to do our job,” Garrett said. “If it’s holding, call holding. If it’s a false start Michael Badgley Jersey , false start, whether it’s us or them.”Garrett spoke out unafraid of any consequences from the league, which is sensitive about players criticizing its officiating crews.“If I get fined, so be it,” he said. “Something needs to be said. If it keeps on going this way, this route, where it seems like we keep on getting the short stick.”Garrett has issues with a number of calls, but he was particularly peeved about a play in the second quarter of last Sunday’s 38-14 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. With the Chargers driving, Los Angeles left tackle Russell Okung clearly moved and dropped into pass protection before the ball was snapped. Garrett stopped rushing Okung, and several other players slowed in anticipation of a whistle. But nothing was called, the play continued and Philip Rivers threw a 29-yard touchdown pass.So what should have been a false start instead became a touchdown.“It was so obvious,” Garrett said. “To my mind Womens Austin Ekeler Jersey , he’s moved, nobody else has moved and the ball hasn’t moved, so it’s kinda textbook. The flag should be up. I don’t understand how you don’t see it. That’s his job is to look down the line and see when people are jumping offside or false starting, but I’ve got to keep on finishing the play.”And while the score put the Chargers up by 18 in a game they’d win by 24, Garrett said a different outcome on the play could have changed things.“Momentum matters in the game,” he said. “No doubt. And a six-point turnaround, a seven-point turnaround like that where it could’ve been a sack or maybe a forced fumble if you keep on playing, or just a no play at all, to a touchdown, that’s a huge difference. There were a couple missed calls like that, and that’s not on Okung, he’s just doing his job.“It’s on the ref and to him to have that kind of integrity to call that play when it comes.”Garrett also referenced the Sept. 30 game at Oakland when a strip sack of Derek Carr was nullified by a quick whistle. The Browns scooped the apparent fumble and were running for a TD when the officials ruled Carr was in the grasp.NFL senior vice president of officiating Al Riveron later acknowledged the crew made the wrong call.Garrett said there were other instances http://www.thechargerslockerroom.com/authentic-melvin-gordon-jersey , and he just wants there to be fairness.“If it’s holding for them, if they’re grabbing us, if they’re turning us, if they’re trying to pull us out of a gap whether it’s a run play or a pass play, it needs to be called,” he said. “There’s no excuse for us. We need to get their hands off of us and we need to play ball, because we know they’re not going to get those kind of calls, but at the end of the day, if they see it, they need to pull the flag out.”

Chicago Bears Sackwatch 2018:

Week 1 vs Green Bay Packers After being one of the most sacked quarterbacks as a rookie with a sack percentage of 8.6 Ha Ha Clinton-Dix Jersey , I expected Mitchell Trubisky to see that number decline in his second year as the starting quarterback for the Chicago Bears. Pocket awareness is something that takes time to learn at the NFL level, and most young QBs struggle with it. He’s still very early in his career, but his awareness on Sunday Night was a problem. One possible reason; he’s in a new offense on a very big stage and the moment may have gotten the best of him against the Green Bay Packers. Another possible reason; he’s just not very aware of his surroundings. By the end of the 2018 season we’ll know which it is. If you’re new to my Sackwatch series, it’s me breaking down every sack the Bears allow. The idea was first floated to me by WCG’s resident snark, Kev H, back in the Mike Martz years. And as someone tired of seeing casual fans blame the offensive line for every sack allowed, I figured this would be a good way to show how much more goes into pass protection. Each week I’ll start the article taking a look back through the years, then I’ll break down each game’s sack, and finally I’ll keep a running tally the sacks allowed. Enjoy...Sackwatch After Week 1:2010 Sacks - 4 (Martz)2011 Sacks - 5 (Martz)2012 Sacks - 2 (Tice)2013 Sacks - 0 (Trestman)2014 Sacks - 2 (Trestman)2015 Sacks - 2 (Gase)2016 Sacks - 5 (Loggains)2017 Sacks - 4 (Loggains)2018 Sacks - 4 (Nagy)Now let’s get down to the nitty gritty...Sack 1 - First Quarter 2:49 - Kentrell BriceThis was neat play to break down because it’s run from a formation I used back in the day. In my terminology this is, Blue right, Z-Mo, fake 23 lead, max protect. Only the X and Z receivers go out for a pass, so the fact that the Packers got pressure is troublesome, but the pressure unfortunately complimented each other perfectly. Eric Kush (left guard) loses his block on Mike Daniels (#76), but Howard is there to clean up. Tight end Dion Sims (lined up on the right side) gives the edge up too quickly to linebacker Reggie Gilbert (#93). Fullback Michael Burton was moving to that side to help http://www.thebearslockerroom.com/authentic-allen-robinson-jersey , but it was a tough angle considering how deep Gilbert got. The Packers only sent five initially, so seven on five should have been a win for the Bears, but Sims’ losing his block so quickly spooked Trubisky. He stepped up, but Daniels was there after beating Kush. With the first pressure sending him directly to the second pressure, Trubisky took off. By running out of bounds for zero yards, this sack goes to safety Kentrell Brice, who was closest to him, but I think the sack allowed should go to the two players that ultimately lead to the scramble, Half to Kush and half to Sims. Sack 2 - Second Quarter 6:49 - TeamThis one was immediately called Butt Fumble 2 on Twitter after it happened, and I really hope that doesn’t stick. Now if it was Butt Fumble 2, Electric Boogaloo, that’d be a different story. It’s an empty backfield on 4th and 4, and Trubisky thought he saw a lane to get the first on his own. The lane closed, and he couldn’t react quick enough. He collided with his right tackle and dropped the ball. This sack is on Trubisky.Sack 3 - Fourth Quarter 8:29 - Mike DanielsThis is another run for zero yards that is officially called a sack. I hate that rule. A sack is a negative play, and zero yards isn’t negative. On this play, the Bears pass protection creates a nice pocket for Trubisky Womens Chase Daniel Jersey , but he seems to anticipate a breakdown that isn’t there and he takes off. With experience he hopefully stays in the pocket and scans the field if this situation arises again, but right now he may trust his athleticism more than he trusts his new scheme. This one is on Mitch.Sack 4 - Fourth Quarter 1:06 - Nick PerryOn this sack, Trubisky starts drifting to his right before he has to. My first thought was he sensed the pressure from Perry off the left edge, but if that was the case, then why stand still after Perry beat left tackle Charles Leno?Leno got his head out in front of his feet too much when Perry tried going back outside, and that’s a mistake. But Trubisky had time to throw, and he didn’t feel the rush at all. I don’t want to let Leno completely off the hook for getting beat, so a half a sack allowed to him, but Trubisky is getting the other half. I was curious, so here’s what Pro Football Focus said about all the sacks and pressures.Individual Sackwatch after week 1:Mitchell Trubisky - 2.5Dion Sims - .5Erik Kush - .5Charles Leno - .5 LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP)Roquan Smith mentioned Dick Butkus and Mike Singletary, Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs. The Georgia standout hopes to add his name to the list of great Chicago linebackers. The Bears drafted Smith with the No. 8 overall pick Thursday night, adding a potential cornerstone player on defense rather than another offensive weapon for quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. The Bears have spent the offseason collecting pieces they believe will help Trubisky develop into a franchise quarterback. But when Indianapolis took Notre Dame guard Quenton Nelson with the sixth pick, it seemed apparent Chicago would address the defense.”What they can expect from me when I arrive is a relentless guy on the field and off the field, going about my business the right way and going to do whatever it takes to put the Bears in the best possible situation every time I step on to the field,” smith said. ”And I’m beyond excited Bennie Fowler III Jersey , I can’t put it into words how excited I am about this opportunity to be a Chicago Bear. It’s insane and I’m ready to give the city of Chicago everything I have in me.”Smith joins a team with four straight last-place finishes in the NFC North and just one playoff appearance since the 2006 team’s run to the Super Bowl. The Monsters of the Midway haven’t finished with a winning record since 2012, Lovie Smith’s last season as coach. That’s something they hope Smith will help change. An All-American and Butkus Award winner as college football’s best linebacker, he led Georgia to the national championship game last season. Though he is a bit undersized at 6-foot-1, 236 pounds, he has speed and athleticism and the coverage skills to stay on the field in passing situations. His leadership is also a plus.Smith figures to line up inside for the Bears. He’ll also be reunited with another Bulldog in outside linebacker Leonard Floyd, drafted by Chicago with the No. 9 pick in 2016.Smith said he ”looked up to the guy a lot” and is eager to play with him.”It’s insane. I’m excited,” he said.Bears general manager Ryan Pace used the phrase ”fired up” three times in his opening remarks about Smith. He later used it to describe defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, too, and again when addressing the Bears’ positioning for the second day.Fangio came into the media room prior to the draft to tell reporters he shot a hole-in-one earlier with a 9-iron from 125 yards on the fourth hole at Strawberry Creek in Kenosha, Wisconsin. His day got even better when the Bears grabbed one of the top defensive players in the draft.”Every game you watch, this guy’s flying around, making plays, you just can’t help . I think in today’s NFL, the linebackers are becoming more and more of this,” Pace said. ”Sometimes you might sacrifice a little bit of size to gain a lot of athleticism and a lot of speed, and Roquan definitely has that.”Pace said there weren’t many calls looking to move up from teams needing a quarterback. He said he wasn’t interesting in trading the pick http://www.thebearslockerroom.com/authentic-taylor-gabriel-jersey , anyway, once it became clear Smith would be there for them. Pace did acknowledge the Bears tried to add a late first-rounder.Chicago has one second-round pick, two fourth-rounders and one each in the fifth, sixth and seventh. The Bears don’t have a third-round selection. The Bears fired John Fox after three seasons and replaced him with an offensive-minded coach in Matt Nagy, who spent the past 10 years working on Andy Reid’s staffs in Philadelphia and Kansas City. They also gave Trubisky some new targets, most notably signing former Pro Bowl receiver Allen Robinson. The Bears were still looking to boost a rather effective defense. Chicago ranked 10th overall last season despite injuries to several key players, including Floyd, and tied for seventh in the NFL with 42 sacks last season. But the Bears let linebackers Jerrell Freeman, Pernell McPhee and Willie Young go.Smith is looking forward to playing for Fangio, who in three seasons has helped transform a defense that ranked among the worst in franchise history. Fangio’s predecessor was Mel Tucker, Georgia’s defensive coordinator.Smith called Tucker a ”great guy” who taught him ”a lot of things.” But Fangio has ”coached a lot of legends,” including similarly sized linebackers NaVorro Bowman and Patrick Willis in San Francisco.”I feel like those guys, we’re all different in our own way, especially in being very unique. I feel like me, I feel like me and Patrick Willis both have similar speed and whatnot and both have a high IQ of the game.”—

With kickoff a little over an hour away

Womens Austin Ekeler Jersey , we have the official inactives for the Los Angeles Chargers and Indianapolis Colts. Of course, third-string quarterback Easton Stick will not be suiting up, nor will kicker Michael Badgley whose status we learned earlier this morning. The remainder of the inactives include fifth-string wide receiver Geremy Davis and defenders Trevor Williams, Roderic Teamer, Jatavis Brown http://www.thechargerslockerroom.com/authentic-melvin-gordon-jersey , and Cortez Broughton. With Brown out, we will likely see a lot of Drue Tranquill today. Williams’ absence makes Teamer’s exclusion feel a little odd, but the team apparently feels good about their remaining defensive backfield depth. On the Indianapolis side of things, the big name that is sitting is defensive Jabaal Sheard. The Russell Okung-less Chargers offensive line deserved a bit of a reprieve and they are getting one with Sheard sidelined. Overall, there are no real surprises for either team at this point Philip Rivers Jersey , and the inactive list doesn’t change much if anything about what we thought we knew coming into today’s game. Smith has been one of the most productive players in the country over the last two years but Corcoran was a force in his own right and had himself a breakout year in 2018.After combining for 14 tackles-for-loss and 6.5 sacks during his sophomore and junior seasons, Corcoran collected 12.5 tackles behind the line and 10 sacks (second only to his teammate Womens Kellen Winslow Jersey , Smith) during his final collegiate campaign. He was unsurprisingly named a second team All-MAC selection following the season. It’ll be interesting to see where the team believes is the best place for the ‘tweener. His measurables are the spitting image of Kyle Emanuel and they are essentially going through the same transition from college to the pros. After playing as a true defensive end for the Huskies, Corcoran is currently listed as a linebacker on the team’s online roster. If he is transitioning to a stand-up linebacker, a la Emanuel, then the Chargers may view him as a base strongside linebacker, which is almost irrelevant at this point as the team is rarely in their base personnel http://www.thechargerslockerroom.com/authentic-lance-alworth-jersey , if at all.The team may also view Corcoran in the same light as Uchenna Nwosu, who played on the edge at USC before playing a bit more off-ball during his rookie season. Nwosu was inevitably placed back around the line of scrimmage late in the season and the decision reaped instant rewards as we all got to witness the his strip-sack of Lamar Jackson to seal the team’s playoff victory at Baltimore.Corcoran is definitely a player that will have to be placed in the right situation to find success at the next level. When it comes to the Chargers’ defense as of late, the chances of that are fairly high. If Corcoran gets shoved into the off-ball linebacker group, I think he’s got a 0.00% chance of succeeding. If he gets placed in the the same light as Nwosu and he adds some value along the edge, then he might have a shot in hell of sticking around.
